Snow-Water Equivalent Update: April

Here is a message we received from Archie Harper and graphics from the Forest Service:

“Here’s a graphic of the snow pack in water equivalents for the two nearest Snotel sites to the Helena area. We are near record levels for this time of year. If we don’t get the rains like we experienced in June, 2011, we will be alright with some minor flooding… It all boils down to the timing and amount of rain we get that will shape how all that water will come out this late spring. One thing In our favor is cooler than normal temperature projections for the remainder of spring, which would slow the rate of melt out.”
